The Barbecue Center History
The Barbecue Center, Inc. is the oldest barbecue establishment in downtown Lexington that still cooks on pits. It has been featured in Southern Living magazine, on the TV show “Good Morning America,” and in a number of newspapers. This bastion of Lexington-style barbecue started years ago across the street from its current site as a dairy center serving ice cream. They built a small barbecue pit to have something to sell in the winter when the ice cream business slowed. They moved in the late 1950s, but they still sell a lot of ice cream.

This place was absolutely amazing!!! Have the best BBQ EVER and the biggest and tastiest banana 🍌 split in my whole 38 yrs of life!!! There was 4 adults and we had to throw the towel in on it and couldn't finish it! HUGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Great nostalgic diner vibes, great and quick service. BBQ is excellent, red slaw was on point and hush puppies perfect. Got a hot dog all the way, delicious. Ice cream to wrap it all up, perfect

Amazing Bar B Q! Both the chicken and pork are great. Hot wings were awesome and so were the sides. The servers were all very friendly and welcoming. We found a new home for BBQ
